Lee Wards Lilac quilt top to embroider, 88 x 94 inches, excellent cond.

Description

This auction is for a Lee Wards embroidery quilt kit in the "Lilacs" design.  This top is a double size, or 90 x 103 inches (cut size).  Thread colors and suggestions are included on the instruction sheet.  Of course, the new owner can use whatever colors he/she chooses.  The stampings on this top are clearly visible, and the foil label is still on it.  Markings at the bottom of the quilt say "Designed by Mary Dexter for Lee Wards." It appears that this quilt has seldom been unfolded, even though there is a date of 1963 on the instruction sheet.  The top is not in its original packaging. The design is stamped on 100% cotton sheeting. In order to complete this quilt as a top, the new owner will need to purchase 70 skeins of embroidery floss.  Embroidery stitches required to do this top are outline, lazy daisy, running, and French knot. Although the instruction sheet recommends dry cleaning, the completed top should NOT be dry cleaned. This recommendation preceded any modern information on textile conservation.  In addition to thread, the new owner will need to purchase batting and backing to complete this quilt.  After the embroidery is done, the top will need to be sandwiched, quilted, and bound.  Please see my other listings for more quilt kits.  I am happy to combine shipping to a single owner at a single address.  Buyer to pay shipping via USPS.
