Beautifully hand painted central panel of Christ, his body being prepared for burial, with Saint Joseph, John the Theologian, Virgin Mary, Mary Magdalene, and Saint Nicodemus, gold fringe, the faces are exceptional, beautiful piece of religious artwork that needs to be framed
The Plashanitsa is used on the last two days of Holy Week as part of the ceremonies marking the death and resurrection of Christ. It is placed on the Altar table.
Age - 19th Century
Size - approximately 28"H x 51"W, without fringe
Condition - creases and associated wear to image, some stains and discoloration to cloth
