    Description

    Rare Original advertising  hand fan designed in 1931 -1932 by Munetsugu Satomi to promote the prestige of the Galeries Lafayette all over the world. (« Prestige of Galeries Lafayette rayonne sur le monde entier" ). List of famous world's cities appear along the top edges of the leaves. .
    Artwork by  Munetsugu  Satomi dated and signed on both sides of the fan.
    Double paper and wood sticks.

    (Munetsugu Satomi ( 1904 - 1996) was a highly accredited and revered Japanese graphic designer. His family immigrated to France in 1922 where he enrolled in the Ecole des Beaux Arts. In the late 1920's he began his career in the world of advertising design reflective of the art deco influence. Over the span of his graphic design career he is credited with creating  posters and paintings  winning many  design awards. His posters have been   auctioned at major auction  houses.(Christies London)
    The Galliera Museum in Paris (Paris' Fashion Museum)   includes in its collection an advertising hand fan for the Galeries Lafayette designed also by Munetsugu Satomi .
